What The Hoops Geek does well

  • A free plan with up to 5 plays, 1 playbook, 3 rotations and 3 practice plans. Its pricing page lists paid plans at $10 (Solo), $15 (Team) and from $20 (Org) a month, with yearly billing at 50% less.
  • Every play you draw is animated automatically, and plays can be exported as MP4 video, also on the free plan.
  • Share links that need no login, and PDF printing.
  • A browser version plus iOS and Android apps, a practice planner and a play library.
  • It lists importing plays from FastDraw.

Where SlongeHoops differs

  • SlongeHoops shows the same drawing from four camera views: top, isometric, sideline and baseline.
  • SlongeHoops can put a rule-based simulated defense (in beta) on any play, and generates quizzes from a play. We did not find either on The Hoops Geek’s pages.
  • SlongeHoops does not import files from other tools. Coach is $7 a month or $60 a year.
  • Our free plan keeps 4 saved plays against its 5.
  • Both plan practices. On SlongeHoops the practice planner is part of Coach and above, with timed blocks of drills, plays and your own text; The Hoops Geek lists 3 practice plans on its free plan.
