1Faza 1
5 pokazuje zasłonę, 1 robi w jej stronę jeden kozioł ku środkowi — tyle wystarczy.
- 5 stawia zasłonę: 1
- 1 kozłuje na prawy łokieć
2Faza 2
Zamiast rolować, 5 skręca w dół i zasłania obrońcę 2 w rogu. 2 wychodzi wzdłuż linii bocznej na skrzydło.
- 5 stawia zasłonę: 2
- 2 ścina na prawe skrzydło
- 1 podaje do 2
3Faza 3
Złap w biegu w górę linii i rzuć — obrońca nadal jest z tyłu.
- 2 rzuca

Wskazówki trenerskie
- 5 shows the ball screen and never sets it. The fake is the whole first phase.
- 1 takes exactly one dribble at it, enough to make two defenders commit to the ball.
- 5 veers down to the corner without hesitating. Any pause and the pin-down is guarded.
- 2 sets his man up low, then comes up the line off the screen.
- The catch happens moving up the sideline, with the feet set and the shot already loaded.
The trick here is that the first action is a lie. 5 walks toward the ball as if he is setting a screen, 1 takes one dribble at it, and two defenders react to a ball screen that never happens. Then 5 keeps going, all the way down to the corner, and pins for the shooter.
By the time the defense works out that the ball screen was not real, a shooter is coming up the sideline off a screen nobody called out.
The read
The screener’s defender has one bad choice and one worse one. If he goes out with 5 to the ball, he is high and cannot get back down to the pin-down. If he stays low, then 1 is attacking a ball screen that suddenly is real, with the defender in no man’s land.
Either way, 2 is coming off a screen guarded by a man who is trailing.
Teaching it
The fake has to look like the real thing. 5 sprints at the ball, sets his feet for half a count, and then leaves. A lazy jog toward the ball fools nobody.
1’s one dribble matters too. It is a commitment dribble, not a drive: he has to make the on-ball defender take a step over the screen.
Coaches use the word differently. Some mean this exact sequence, others mean any ball screener who veers into an off-ball screen instead of rolling. The read is the same either way, so agree on the word in your gym.
Odpowiedzi na reakcję obrony
- If they switch the pin-down, 5 has a smaller man on him and seals inside.
- If 5's defender ignores the fake screen and follows him down, 1 has a one-on-one at the top.
- If the shooter is top-locked coming up the line, he back cuts to the rim.
