Pistol Flex Step-Up
A pistol throw-ahead with a fake handoff, and 1 clearing to the corner triggers flex: a cross screen, then a down screen for the cross screener. Instead of running the loop again, 5 steps up into a ball screen, 2 drives baseline, and the escape pass to the corner comes with a 45 cut behind the rotation.

1 throws ahead to 2 on the wing and runs at him for the handoff. 2 shows it and keeps it, and 1 clears through to the ball-side corner — that clear is the flex trigger.

3 runs across the lane and cross-screens 4’s man; 4 comes over the top of it to the weak-side block. As 4 clears, 5 walks down from the elbow toward 3.

5 screens the screener and 3 pops up to the top. Then, instead of another cross screen, 5 steps up from the block onto the baseline side of 2’s man and 2 drives baseline off his shoulder, while 4 lifts from the block to the weak-side wing.

The corner man’s defender has to help on the drive, so 2 kicks it out to 1 for three. As the ball goes out, 4 cuts at 45 degrees from the weak-side wing into the gap the rotation leaves — one more pass if the closeout comes hard.
