Elevator
Dva podkošoví hráči stojí od sebe na čáře trestných hodů. Střelec proběhne mezi nimi a oni zavřou dveře jeho obránci. Jde o akci na jedinou střelu: střelec volně převezme míč na vrcholu mimo dosah obrany.

Přeneste míč na křídlo a uvolněte vrchol vymezeného území.

Trenérské tipy
- Clear the top of the key completely before the shooter moves. He needs the middle of the floor.
- The two screeners stand about a metre or three feet apart and do not move until the cutter is through.
- 2 sprints. A walk up the middle gives the defender time to go around the outside.
- The doors close behind the cutter, never on the defender. Set your feet and stand still.
- The pass arrives as 2 turns, so he catches it already facing the rim.
This is a one-shot special. You call it after a timeout, you get one clean catch at the top of the key, and then everybody knows it. That is fine. It is worth a possession.
1 swings it to the wing and clears out of the middle. 2 starts under the rim and sprints straight up the lane between two bigs standing apart at the free-throw line. As he passes through, they close the gap. His defender has nowhere to go but around, and by then the ball has arrived.
Where it breaks
Two places, and both are legal problems as much as tactical ones.
The screeners must be set when the door closes. Two players moving toward a defender as he tries to get through is a moving screen, and it gets called. Teach them to stand, shoulder to shoulder, and absorb contact rather than create it.
The cutter must run at full speed. If the defender is level with him, there is no door to close.
Teaching it
Walk the spacing first. The two screeners need enough room for the cutter and not enough for a defender. Put a cone down and let them find it.
Sprint through the gap, not to the gap.
Then run it against a live defender who knows it is coming. If he beats the cutter to the spot, the cutter stops and the screeners slip. Give your team that answer in the same practice, or the first team that scouts it takes the play away for good.
Protiakce
- If the defender anticipates and beats the cutter to the top, 2 stops short and the screeners are wide open on the slip.
- Against a switch, the shooter is guarded by a big at the arc. Attack the closeout instead of shooting.
- If they send a second defender at the catch, one of the two screeners is unguarded at the elbow.
