Pass and Screen Away
Three players at the top and both wings learn the core rule of motion offense: pass, then screen away from the ball. The cutter comes off the screen to the top, the screener replaces him on the wing, and the ball keeps moving to the other side.

Coaching points
- Pass, then screen away: the screen goes to the player on the other side, not toward the ball.
- Screener: stop, wide base, hands in, and screen the defender's body, not a spot.
- Cutter: wait for the screen, set your man up, and come off shoulder to shoulder.
- Keep the spacing: three spots, about five metres apart, all the time.
Phase by phase
1Phase 1
A passes to B, then goes away from the ball to screen for C. C walks his man down, then cuts off the screen shoulder to shoulder to the top; A replaces him on the wing.
- A passes to B
- A screens for C
- C cuts
- C cuts to the top
- A cuts to the right wing
2Phase 2
Reverse the ball: B passes back to the top. Every pass makes the defense move.
- B passes to C
3Phase 3
Same rule the other way: C passes to A on the right wing and screens away for B, who cuts to the top; C replaces him on the left wing.
- C passes to A
- C screens for B
- B cuts
- B cuts to the top
- C cuts to the left wing
Variations
- Add three passive defenders, then live 3-on-3.
- Cutter reads the defender: curl if he trails, pop if he goes under.
- 4-on-0 with a post player who flashes to the ball side.
