Weak-Side Box Out
Two defenders sit in help, far from their men on the other side of the floor. The coach shoots from the opposite wing; the defenders leave help, find the wing and the corner crashing in, make contact and pursue. Misses come off the weak side, so this is where rebounds are won.

Coaching points
- From help, see your man and the ball; know where he is before the shot goes up.
- Go to him: make contact first, as far from the basket as you can.
- Low and wide, then pursue the ball; do not wait for it to come down to you.
- Expect the miss on your side: most long rebounds come off the weak side.
- No out of bounds: play until someone owns the ball.
Phase by phase
1Phase 1
The defenders are in help, seeing ball and man. Coach shoots. W and K crash; X1 and X2 leave help, find them early and make contact before they get a running start.
- C shoots
- W cuts
- K cuts to the right short corner
- X1 cuts
- X2 cuts to the right short corner
2Phase 2
Hold, then go get it: the miss comes long off the weak side. X2 takes it two-handed and chins it.
- X2 cuts to the right block
- X1 cuts
- K cuts to the right block
- W cuts
3Phase 3
Outlet to the coach. If the defense got it, the defenders stay on; if the offense got it, they switch to defense and two new attackers come in.
- X2 passes to C
Variations
- Start with a skip pass: the help defender closes out to the receiver, the other sprints to help and boxes out the back side.
- Score it individually: both defenders get a point for every defensive rebound.
- Alternate the lines so everyone defends from the wing and from the corner.
