Drop Step Power Finish
A post player seals on the block with a dummy standing in for a defender on the high side. The coach feeds from the wing; the post player feels the dummy high, drops the baseline foot to the rim, takes one power dribble and finishes off two feet. Then the other block.

Coaching points
- Feel where the defender is before you move: high side means drop baseline.
- The drop step gains ground toward the rim and seals the defender on your back.
- One power dribble between the feet, then a two-foot jump: balance beats speed.
- Ball stays high and protected on the way up; finish off the glass.
Phase by phase
1Phase 1
Wide base, low hips, a target hand away from the defender. The coach feeds a bounce pass to that hand; catch with two hands and chin it.
- C passes to P
2Phase 2
Defender on the high side: pivot on the top foot, drop the baseline foot toward the rim, one hard dribble between the feet, up off both feet and finish off the glass.
- P dribbles to the right block
- P shoots
3Phase 3
Rebound, give the ball back to the coach on the other wing and post up on the left block.
- C cuts to the left wing
- P passes to C
- P cuts to the left block
4Phase 4
Same move on the left: feel the dummy high, drop the baseline foot, one power dribble, finish with the left hand.
- C passes to P
- P dribbles to the left block
- P shoots
Variations
- Move the dummy to the baseline side and drop step into the middle for a hook.
- Add the up-and-under as a counter after a shot fake.
- Coach bumps the finisher with a pad to finish through contact.
