Coaching points
- Stay at the same low height the whole way; the head does not bob.
- Lead with the foot in the direction you go, push with the trail foot, feet never meet.
- Hands up and active, not resting on the knees.
- Touch the line with the hand every time: that keeps the hips low.
Phase by phase
1Phase 1
Slide to the far lane line: low stance, push off the trail foot, and touch the line with the left hand.
- A cuts to the left dunker
- B cuts to the left block
- C cuts to the left elbow
2Phase 2
Back the other way, right hand on the line. Count the touches out loud; 30 seconds, then rest 30.
- A cuts to the right dunker
- B cuts to the right block
- C cuts to the right elbow
Variations
- Set a target: 12 touches in 30 seconds for U12, 16 for older players.
- Coach points a direction and players react, instead of going line to line.
- Add a closeout to the free-throw line after the last touch.
