Coaching points
- Step into every pass and finish with the thumbs pointing down.
- Receiver shows a target with both hands and steps to meet the ball.
- Passes are firm and on target: a lob is a turnover in a game.
- Catch with eyes on the ball all the way into the hands.
Phase by phase
1Phase 1
Chest pass: step toward your partner, thumbs down on the follow-through, ball arrives chest high.
- A passes to B
2Phase 2
Bounce pass: the ball hits the floor about two-thirds of the way, so it comes up at your partner's waist.
- B passes to A
3Phase 3
Overhead pass: ball above the forehead, elbows in, snap the wrists; it should arrive at chin height.
- A passes to B

Now on the move: both slide toward the basket, passing back and forth. Lead your partner: pass to where he will be.

- B passes to A
Variations
- Add a one-handed push pass off a crossover step, left and right.
- Count passes in 30 seconds; a drop puts the pair back to zero.
- Make it 3 metres for U8, 5 to 6 metres for older players.
